in the neighbouring Galilee

My comment:

ala, alae = Lat. for wing
alatus, -a, -um = Latin participium perfectum
alato, -a, -o = Ital. participio perfetto

Northern Galilee

My comment:

Hi Barbara!
"Alata" is certainly a mistake: it must be "alta".
Anyway, "Northern Galilee", "Upper Galilee" and "High Galilee" are all possible solutions, but in this very order of use frequency. Therefore I would use "Northern Galilee".

Totally agree with the author. I would translate it as Upper, but it's really probably a matter of personal choice.

Upper Galilee for Alta Galilea

My comment:

Haifa is a port city for the Galilee region or province

alata is probably just a typo
