My comment:

"couldn't care less" is a more literal translation of "royalement", but "se foutre royalement" about something is vulgar, so I would give priority to "didn't give a damn" (about content).

"fond" here refers to "content", as opposed to "form". This is confirmed by the end of the quote (pourvu que j'ai les formes).

An update: I agree with the proposal given elsewhere for "j'ai les formes": this refer to physical looks. This doesn't change my proposal for "se foutait royalement du..." , but obviously it's not "about content", sorry about that.
