I think this keeps the sense of round, jolly and rather silly. More 'boule-ish' than bulimic, for sure!

My comment:

As we all know "boulimique" means a "compulsive eater" and clearly this relates to some sort of party inducing the attendees and organisers by the way the balloons appear (probably colourful, cheerful etc.) to feel like seriously joining in the party spirit - that's how I read it anyway

I think we need a fairly literal translation. If the website I came across (attached below) is any indication, the word "bulimic" must be there for a reason. However strange it may seem...
