My comment:

i think doomed is good in itself to be honest, but undertranslated.
i heard once "doomed to a world of silent screams" when speaking of mental illness, that might work, depending on context, plus it's a bit over translated.
Maybe also "destined for/doomed to a life of obscurity/darkness" - that's my favourite, all things considered
