My comment:

Although this appears to be a commercial. Text, a 'soutenance' also refers to a viva voce, during which someone defends their thesis before they can be awarded their doctorate.

Of course, like oral presentation or defense of one's thesis...that's where this soutenance comes from. Pitching also comes to mind.
