Context:

Does anyone have a workable translation for this when it refers to artists or designers using objects in new or unconventional ways? For example: "meubles: récup et détournement". Repurposing?

The Canadian site below mentions "altering" or "altered art"
I don't think it's "repurposing" because they are not recycling the object or finding a new use for it. It's just purely for artistic purposes.
