"She saw her face reflected on the gas stove metal cover"
My comment:
I'm not exactly sure of which "tray" the original author is referring to but, in many European countries (Spain included), it's quite usual to have a polished aluminum/metal cover (like a custom-fit, upside down tray) that covers the entire range portion of the stove. When cooking, it doubles as a backsplash.

As I said to B. C., when you open the fridge door, you look inside the fridge and don't see anything else. The "bandeja" was consequently inside the fridge. Thus it can only be a baking-tray/sheet (on which she had cooked her "natilla") and which she put in the fridge the day before with the "natilla" on top.

baking tray (dripping tray?)
My comment:
To reflect the face of a person, the surface must be polished and large enough, which is not the case of a gas hob. I think the mistake comes from a translation of the French"plaque de cuisson". Since it is not an electric cooker, it can only refer to the baking tray or dripping tray.

The only alternative, if it is a modern gas cooker, is that it is a ceramic hob, which is indeed a reflective surface.

I was just thinking: if she took the rest of the "natilla" out of the fridge, she must have cooked it herself and lef it on the baking tray/sheet (perhaps with aluminium foil on top) which explains why she saw her reflection on opening the fridge. She can't have looked at the fridge and at the gas stove at the same time.
