Barbara R. Cochran (a guest user) asked this question:

Language pair:

Italian > English

Subject:

General

Level of diffculty:

Easy / medium

Word or term in question:

sono sempre depurati dall'odio

Context:

are always steeped in/founded/based on hate

My comment:

I don't think you can use the true translation of 'depurare=cleanse/purify' but the expression which conveys the meaning. Here is the sense: http://lanuovasardegna.gelocal.it/regione/2013/04/22/news/la-storia-e-l-oblio-io-ho-visto-1.6930261. and there are plenty of others

My references:

This shows references for 'steeped in hate'- http://www.jpost.com/Opinion/Op-Ed-Contributors/Teaching-about-the-Holocaust-as-an-antidote-to-rising-hate-in-Europe-328301.

I don't agree. If they fight as though they were gentlemen, theh fight without hate, even if life is at stake.
