Choix découverte

Context:

Pour la traduction de mon relevé de notes, je dois traduire "Choix découverte".

Je m'explique : il s'agit de choisir entre plusieurs matières "découverte" (par exemple, introduction à la sociologie, introduction à la gestion etc...)
Peut-être peut-on traduire cela par "choix d'une matière introductive" ?

it's important to keep both notions, that it's a choice and that it's an introductory unit

S'il s'agit des cours de libre choix, on peut introduire le mot "elective" dont les élèves recoivent des cours permettant de se familiariser avec des matières, donc le mot "introduction" est également pertinent.
