checkpoint

My comment:

Part of quality control procedures. The checkpoint is when you get the checkers in to check.

You must be right, even though it sounds a bit miltary (it reminds me of the Berlin Wall with checkpoint Charlie!).

routine check meeting?

My comment:

My brother-in-law who used to be Head of the quality department in his firm (in France) told me that there were 2 kinds of meetings: la convocation de routine et le point-clef. In the latter case, everybody was summoned and the task was interrupted until they had made sure everything was OK. Unfortunately, he coud not give me the English translation.
