"Sampling" is sometimes used in advertising material, e.g. "to sample some of the wines and food", i.e. try a cross-section of what is available.

Sampling is also a synonym for touching. Although it sounds very dangerous to touch an alligator it might be possible and make sense, which would be an attaction for tourists
