Esta es una expresión eminentemente británica, si bien el vocablo "nuisance" es molestia y e correcto también.

My comment:

be a pain (in the neck/ ass/ arse/ butt/ backside) to be very annoying. Eg. There were times when Joe could be a real pain in the neck. This expression is not very polite.
