Kate (a guest user) asked this question:

Language pair:

French > English

Law / Certificates

Level of diffculty:

Easy / medium

Word or term in question:

The best way to translate this? Inheritance buden? Or is there a better way to word this?

thx in advance

Charge testamentaire = testator's bond provisions (?) : charge successorale = succession / inheritance load (or burden).

My comment:

"Charge testamentaire" and "charge successorale" are two different ideas: "charge testamentaire" are all the liabilities (expenses, having to help financially or physically the widow(er), etc.) imposed on the heir(ess) by the testator himself, whereas "charge successorale" is all the expenses (taxes, paying off the debts of the deceased,...) imposed by the law.

I agree. I'd choose "burden" over "load", or just use "liabilities".
