Dear Peter, Your answer seems correct to me and there seems to be a mistake in IATE: "rotação ***inicial*** do rotor" - unless you can explain the adjective "inicial" here? (https://iate.europa.eu/search/standard/result/1576247091700/1)(but they say: "to spin the rotor" = "rodar o rotor"!!) It's not the first time that translators find errors in IATE and they are willing to correct them if we send them an email via the "Contact" hyperlink in the bottom right corner their website pages. When I look at the definition of "spin" in English, it means "rotate ***rapidly***" = "whirl" (https://www.thefreedictionary.com/spin), but the "rapidly" is not translated into Portuguese (nor French): "rodar, girar" (https://www.wordreference.com/enpt/spin - https://www.wordreference.com/pten/rodar -- "tourner" in French: https://www.wordreference.com/enfr/spin ; "whirl": "(faire) tournoyer": https://www.wordreference.com/enfr/whirl = "rapide(ment)": https://www.cnrtl.fr/definition/tournoyer BUT "whirl" = "rodar, girar" also in PT: https://www.wordreference.com/enpt/whirl ...). Anyway, "rapid" does not mean "initial", so the IATE entry seems erroneous. What do you think? And should we translate the "rapid" notion, since a spin is a whirl, i.e. a rapid rotation?... Unfortunately we don't have the exact source sentence, so we don't know if the "rapid" notion is IMPLICIT OR NOT here, i.e. should it be emphasized or not... Have a nice evening (or morning) ! Regards, (=> This is also a request to JANIS: PLEASE GIVE US THE SENTENCE in a comment here, thank you).
