Language pair:

French > English

Subject:

General

Level of diffculty:

Easy / medium

Word or term in question:

la réalisation de nos tableaux

Context:

I actually ended up finding "preparation" as a translation for "réalisation". I want to avoid using the term "sale" since I have already used in my translated text earlier in the passage. What do you think ?

preparation, i.e. the process of making sth ready for use/service ... but this is not the meaning of "rélisation"; see def. of LRP; here: they wanted to get rid of the paintings because they feared the fall in value on the market!

here "réalisation" is just an anaphoric term in this sentence: it's referring to "vendre" !

"réaliser" can mean simply "vendre".

You could also translate it as "liquidate", but it's not really necessary.

No. Réalisation means selling here, not preparing.

He's just repeating what he said at the beginning: « En conséquence, je propose de faire vendre au plus tôt les peintures..."
