Judging from your description that could be CROATIAN word aswell:
�EDO (read as: Gyedo)
(� = as in Georgia)
DIDO (read as: Dee-do)

This is sort of transliteration of Polish Dziadzio (Grandpa). Grandfather would be "Dziadek" -- Jyadek

It's quite hard to transliterate it precisely to English.
