The pupil may be faultless but do teachers ever really write that on reports?! In my experience (not just of my own reports, I hasten to add...) they tend to use understatement to prevent even the most industrious wunderkind being lulled into complacency.

"correct" in French rarely means "correct" in English, and is usually best translated by a word like "proper", "decent", "adequate" etc.
