Precisando un poco, si la superficie en cuestión es METALICA, y presenta estas protuberancias, se dice que ha sido MOLETEADA. A la herramienta para conseguirlo se le llama MOLETA y, por tanto, MOLETEADO traduciría, con exactitud, a KNURLED. KNURL sería, bien la herramienta, bien UNO de dichos relieves.

knurl se traduce como moleteado o grafilado. Es el resultado del proceso de knurling (grafilar o moletear), o tambin la herramienta (moleta).
