I think it's very important to note that an associate is NOT a partner, although he/she hopes to be one soon. As said elsewhere, solicitor is the British term, which may or may not be better than attorney (the Am. version)

According to The Council of Europe's French/English Dictionary, "solicitor" is the general functional equivalent for "notaire." If your audience is European, "solcitor" would work. "Notaries in partnership" is what I found in Proz.com's glossary.

The job of "notaire" is typically done by attorneys in the Common Law world, so I'd use a generic term such as Law partner. Notary means something completely different in English, it's just someone who is licensed to legalize signatures.
