Keywords:	this is another survey response...I keep coming up with parès as a surname but can't find it in any medical or other dictionary, not to mention that this looks incomplete (like the rest of this sentence/phrase was cut off after "a"). TIA.

In Italian Radio (RAI) I often heard "... metri pari a ....kilocicli (kHz)". It means "... kiloHertz equal to ... meters".
Pares is Latin plural (Fr./Engl.pair, double), transformed into French with accent grave in order "-es" is read and not French mute ending.

There is no such word, so one must assume that it is a typo or a misspelling. The most likely to me is "apr�s", but without more context, it's impossible to know.
