Una donna ancora giovane appareve sulla soglia. "Entrino pure," disse vedendo il mio...

Keywords:

...compagno. "Mi raccomando pochi minuti," disse l'impiegato dall'ambasciate, "se dovessero trovarci qui sarebbero guai. Anche per lei." The guy from teh embassy has taken the protagonist to the young woman's home in Berlin, to see if the protagonist can stay there. The woman is a Jew, the widom of an Aryian, but she's always suspicious that the SS is going to come and take her away, like they have done with some of her other boarders..

My comment:

The Problem is: doveressero must be a mistake. It isn't really right. It should be either doverebbero (if "they were found here" is meant) or doveresti (if "you were found here" is meant). It should be clear from the wider context which is the correct wording.
