That sounds good. It's close to the original. There is the fortuitous element (we have the word "windfall" in English after all) and the tone is cheery. I assume they are pleased to run into each other and luck brought them on each other's path...

Like I said, they are two friends who haven't seen each other for 10 years, but the register of their conversation up till now has been a lot more casual than what you have proposed, although there is no reason you would have known that.
