evaluate/assess the equivalency/equivalence

Both words are used in different sectors though: https://www.google.com.mt/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=biodiversity+and+equivalency.

"raisonner en" means "to think in terms of", not to assess or evaluate. For example "raisonner en coût global" = "to think in terms of overall cost".

Literal meaning yes, I knew that, does not take much research if you need it to find out what raissoner en means but here, I gave the general sense of what author was trying to convey as when you reason, you should assess/evaluate; that's why author then used -evaluer; besides I offered an alternative: thinking in terms of equivalence-evaluating the equivalence

to think in terms of equivalence / equivalency

My comment:

"equivalence" (or "equivalency") is a term used in the field of biodiversity offsetting. It is linked to the notion of habitat - as in this text.
