Context:	L'altra sera, la sera del Solstizio che è per noi italiani una sorta di festa solare e segna questa volta il culmine della luce di Roma, quando ci fu annunziata la trasfigurazione e l'ascensione di "Francesco Baracca, il Vitorioso", là, in un campo litoraneo, mentre i nostri uomoni caricavano di bombe i nostri apparecchi, io dissi ai miei compagni che ben gli antichi nostri celebravano i funerali degli eroi con giuochi funebri. E, per celebrare l'eroe nostro col solo rito degno di lui, io li condussi a un funebre giuoco di guerra.

Funeral games started in Greece to honour dead heroes and many consider these games as the origin of the Olympics.

rather than funereal for the first part-funebrial (reference: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/funebrial). Is this after Baracca's death? Not clear from the sentence if ironic or literal
