My comment:

I have inserted commas but it could also mean "unwillingly dominated". There is a difference in meaning but the true meaning is unclear. This may be due to the ever decreasing use of commas in contemporary writing.

I think the main confusion in this sentence comes because of the absence of a comma, which would separate the meaningful parts...for example is it "habia algo en estar ahi, dominado sin voluntad" or...?
