My comment:
No translations are right ones. Incontinent here does not mean incapacity of urinary retention of the bladder but that there is no blood in the vessels. Jambe in French (gamba in vulgar Latin and Italian) means "crus, cruris" in scientific Latin. In English there is no word for it as I know. It means the part of the lower extremity between the knee and the ankle. Where the extremity is interrupted through joints (articulations) there are colateral arteries in order to make these links flexible.

collateral arteries of the lower leg. The lower leg would mean between the knee and the ankle.

So as to avoid any recurrence/or/in the absence of any recurrence, collateral leg stockings are provided which assist incontinence and can be stretched (to fit)
