My comment:

I know 'entry gate' sounds somewhat tautological, but the important thing here seems to be that this gate gives access to the whole property.

It could be an estate i.e with several houses and a garden etc

No, it doesn't. A portail is a gate either of a single house or an apartment house that has a garden and boxes at the gate. And Jennifer is right, gatehouse would be loge. Loge is also the concierge's room on the ground floor of an apartment house.
