I keep finding this word as a noun, not a verb. I get the idea but not sure how to put it in English. thx

I agree with the person who pointed out the mistake to you as a quick search in online FR>EN dictionaries brought these results which make sense in your case

Attention à ne pas confondre "palier" (nom commun) et "pallier" (verbe), la 2ème orthographe étant ici la bonne.
"pallier rapidement à tout incident", pas de "e" à tout.
