"left" = finished and left the university. An "egresso" is, for instance, a monk who has left the monastery. This is only a suggestion; I have no references apart from my Porto Editora Portuguese to English dictionary.

While I agree with "left", EGRESSO does NOT imply that the person finished the course or graduated; s/he may have withdrawn or merely abandoned it before completion.
