Barbara Cochran (a guest user) asked this question:

Language pair:

Spanish > English

Subject:

General

Level of diffculty:

Easy / medium

Word or term in question:

para vivir nuestra lujuria en total desacato

Context:

Vivíamos en una utopia atípica. Para nosotros, sólo existía nuestra unión sentimental. El resto... era una vulgar fantasía. ¿Qué importaba el resto? No teníamos suficiente?

My comment:

This suggestion is perhaps too "conversational", but at least it's in keeping with the dismissive tone of the remainder of the piece. I get the impression register is of great importance here, Barbara. Is this the same work for which you accepted my "cooled off, big time" a day or so ago?
