Rosa (a guest user) asked this question:

Language pair:

French > English

Subject:

General

Level of diffculty:

Easy / medium

Word or term in question:

Certificat d’aménagement

Context:

I think the word aménagement is confusing me a bit, wondering if this is some sort of registration document? Or inspection?

Certificate of transfer or vehicle registration certificate or Log Book

My comment:

Normally when a car is sold to a new owner this is issued if not required - I suppose it's like the Log Book

a fixtures and fittings document

My comment:

Doesn't have to be "interior". Might need a roof rack for luggage.

It's all about the interior. Basically it's a certificate that says how many seats there are on the bus, how much standing room there is, and how it caters for the disabled.

fitout and/or completion certificate

My comment:

fitout and/or completion certificate belongs to the certificates of approval

interior layout certificate (approx. translation)

My comment:

It's a certificate that describes the layout and fittings in a bus, for example, including facilities for disabled passengers and describing how many people can be seated, how many standing, how many pull-down seats, and so on. It is also called an "attestation d'aménagement" and it has to be filled in every year by public transport vehicle operators.

Until 2015 it was called "la carte violette". All bus operators have to have one.

Or better yet, "(motor) vehicle modification(s) permit": https://www.nhvr.gov.au/safety-accreditation-compliance/vehicle-standards-and-modifications/applications-and-forms/approval-to-modify-a-heavy-vehicle

It's not about modifications to a vehicle, Barbara. It's a card that all bus operators have to have that provides information about how many seats there are etc.

Sorry, but that is what the context up till now has been talking about. The overhaul and modifications carried out on buses.

Here's an example of one for you to look at. They replaced the "carte violette" in 2015. https://ag-cdn-production.azureedge.net/produits/documents/cce7aab8-144c-4fe7-9258-748d9dfd4495.pdf

You would have to renew it if you made modifications to your bus, but it is not a permit. It just says how many seats there are etc. It's a certificate, not a permit.
